The men’s and women’s golf programs at Missouri Southern are receiving a major upgrade, in the form of an indoor training facility.

The former football locker room in Young Gymnasium is being transformed into a new practice space for the teams through the $90,000 project – funded entirely through donations.

The renovated space will feature new walls, flooring, lighting and ceiling and sports two hitting areas with ForesightGC2 ball flight simulators. A fully furnished player lounge is also part of the package – giving team members all the tools they need for productive practice sessions when the weather forces them indoors. Another significant feature of the facility will be a state-of-the-art ProPutt simulated putting and chipping surface.

“As far as I’m concerned, it’s going to be the best on the market,” says head coach Mike Wheeler about the 750 square foot artificial green. Equipped with 11 different hole locations and laser-cut undulation, the surface will allow players to practice their short games on hyper- realistic terrains.
