After repeating as team and individual champions at the MIAA Cross Country Championships at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course on Oct. 26, the Missouri Southern men, and sophomore Gidieon Kimutai, followed suit on Nov. 9 during the NCAA Division II Central Region Championships, which were also hosted by the sixth-ranked Lions.

Their second-straight regional victory – third for the program since 2009 – qualified them for the 2019 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships in Sacramento, California.

Kimutai repeated as the individual champion and improved to 5-0 on the season. He traversed the 10k course in a time of 29:14.5, besting his time from last year by more than 30 seconds.

The women, coming off a third place finish at the MIAA Championships, finished eighth at the NCAA Regionals. Also, for a second-straight year, Jamie Burnham was named the MIAA Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year.
