In conjunction with the Missouri Health Equity Collaborative (MOHEC), Missouri Southern hosted a healthcare career expo in October in the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.

“The MOHEC consortium consists of numerous entities in the Southwest Missouri region such as Carthage Tech, Franklin Tech, Crowder College, Freeman Health System, Mercy Health System and MSSU,” said Sherry Whiteman, respiratory care educator with MSSU and Franklin Technology Center. “We want to make sure students really know what the healthcare profession offers so they can make informed decisions about their career choices.”

The fair featured nearly 50 booths, with morning sessions aimed at high-school students, demonstrating skills healthcare providers may actually perform. It was open to the community in the afternoon, serving as a hiring event.
