Two New Certificate Programs Available

The School of Business has created two new certificate programs that are designed to have broad appeal.

The Entrepreneurial Operations Certificate and the Entrepreneurial Planning and Management Certificate launched with the start of the fall semester.

“We’ve always had a minor in entrepreneurship,” said Lisa Robinson, director of the university’s Small Business Development Center. “We also had a three-hour certificate program, but that didn’t make sense because the state of Missouri recognizes nine-hour certificates.” The two programs are available totally online for those who aren’t able to come to campus, said Robinson. But they also are designed to be valuable to students across the educational spectrum.

“The appeal is that these certificates can apply to art students who are going to own a business, or environmental science students who want to own a business,” she said. “We want to reach out across campus. They’re also marketed to anyone who comes in the SBDC. You can apply and take these classes without having been admitted toward degree completion.”
