Student athletes reach the academic finish line

Twenty-seven student-athletes were among the 69th graduating class of Missouri Southern,
receiving degrees during winter commencement ceremonies on Dec. 16.
The list of current and former student-athletes included three (Abby Finder, Brett
Graham and Myranda Stewart) who graduated magna cum laude. Finder has already
started her first semester as a medical student at Kansas City University of Medicine and
Biosciences at the school’s Joplin campus and was finishing up a second degree in

“At Missouri Southern and in Division II, our ultimate goal is to graduate student-athletes,”
said Jared Bruggeman, director of athletics. “While most people only
recognize us by wins and losses, we’re also measured by the academic and athletic
success of those student-athletes.

“Missouri Southern and the Athletics Department has excelled in graduating students
and producing productive citizens.”
