Four Individuals/Two Teams Inducted into MSSU Athletics Hall of Fame

Jon Lantz (football), Matt Cambpell (men’s track and field), Kyle Rutledge (men’s track and field) and Chris Turner (men’s track and field/ football), as well as the 1981-82 women’s basketball team and 1999- 00 men’s basketball team were all inducted into Missouri Southern’s Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 19.

Lantz coached the Lions through their most successful period as an NCAA Division II program, winning an MIAA title in 1993. Eight former players of his are in the Hall of Fame. Campbell, Turner and Rutledge went first, second and third in the pole vault at the 2005 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The 1981-82 women’s basketball team were the NAIA national runners up, while the 1999-00 men’s basketball team has been the most successful men’s program – going 30-3 and making a trip to the NCAA Final Four.
