Medics Train at Missouri Southern

Ten medics with the 184th Medical Group, Kansas Air NationalGuard spent several days this summer at Missouri Southern undergoing training.
The medics from McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kan., trained with EMS staff from the university. They also heard guest lecturers from Mercy Hospital Springfield’s burn unit and Life Line, the hospital’s air transport service for emergency patients.

“It’s a refresher training,” said Brett Peine, director of the EMS Department. “They went through trauma training, pediatrics, obstetrics, medical emergencies, lifting and moving … a little bit of everything.”

“These Guard members could encounter just about any scenario as part of their jobs,” Peine said. “We’re more than glad to provide this type of training.”
